WorldSkills Competition update

Today is the last day of competition at the WorldSkills Competition in Japan. Closing ceremonies are slated for November 21. Tomorrow promises to be a fun post-competition day, when the city of Numazu and Shizuoka Prefecture plan a day of activities, the “Welcome Festival” at the Toki-no-sumika Leisure Complex in Gotemba Village. Festivities and events will run from 10:30am-4:00pm. Participants will include event staff, local residents and students, allowing lots of mingling and networking before everyone heads home over the next few days.

Meanwhile, WorldSkills Calgary 2009 has unveiled the two official mascots of that event, Clydesdale horses named Tug and Tess. According to officials, the Clydesdales were chosen because of that breed’s reputation for hard work and their dedication to duty. Get yourself into trade school now and you may still be able to qualify for the Calgary games! WorldSkills 2011 is slated for London, England.
